In April 1995 the once white boat begins its journey from Ouranoupolis, Halkidiki aiming to make Mount Athos sightseeing excursions. However, due to the short tourist season, decision was made to change its route and find a port in Thessaloniki. According to the captain, nothing happened for no reason. The blessing we received on the day of the Holy Spirit celebration was decisive, and the idea of changing our sailing route to the city of Thessaloniki was born.
One Boat. One Love

How it all started
April 1995…
The first changes…
1995-1996
So, on the 1st of September of that same year (1995) the boat docked at the port of Thessaloniki, in front of the White Tower. A closed bay with the ability to work all through the year. Klio was the first boat to carry out small cruises on Thermaikos Gulf, in a city where tourism was lagging behind and only a few people would walk along the waterfront.
The “makuti kiosk”
1997-1999
In the winter of ’97 we decided to renovate the boat once again. An imaginative chessboard entrance is created and the entire interior is decorated with metallic lining, giving a more industrial feel to the space. However, the captain, as an inquiring and artistic mind, won’t rest with this. The following year he redecorates the exterior of the boat by painting a rainbow on it, while in 2000 he pioneers by creating the first ever (possibly around the world) “makuti kiosk” made of coconut leaves of African origin.
An intense period…
1997-2007
Having the White Tower as a permanent anchorage for a decade, the boat is going through an intense period, full of people, concerts and unique evenings until dawn. It becomes one of the main draws for the city’s residents, offering moments full of excitement and emotions! Since 2000 the live shows have been limited and they gave way for parties with a variety of music!
And we keep going…
2008 to present
The country’s economic crisis has left no one unscathed. So, a period of gradual changes to a calmer and alternative course begins for Klio. The era of endless and intense fun has come to an end and our boat attunes with the people’s present mentality. Klio, however, has maintained its values and romance and continues its journey with love and hope for life!
